Does peaceful resistance to laws positively or negatively impact a free society? First of all, what is civil disobedience? Second of all, what is peaceful resistance? Civil disobedience is the act of opposing a law one considers unjust and peacefully disobeying it while accepting the consequences. Peaceful resistance, or nonviolent resistance. is the practice of achieving goals such as social change through symbolic protests, civil disobedience, economic or political non cooperation, satyagraha, or other methods, without using violence. In this situation right now, I think peaceful resistance to laws does impact a free society. From the 'I have a dream' speech, Martin Luther King, Jr implies, "I have a dream that one day the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood." He explains how the world would've been if people of different ethnicity during the past came together in his point of view. In today's society, people must come together, even if we have different ethnicity, to share equality and love with one another. The second reason why I think peaceful resistance impacts a free society has to do with how we manage the rights of freedom, liberty, and peace from the government. Sometimes, our government would usually create bad decisions on a particular political issue, leading to civil disobedience. Around the time of the Vietnam War, John Lennon describes, "If everybody demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace."
