Performance Enhancing Drugs Should They is Accepted in Sports? Should Performance Enhancing Drugs be allowed in professional sports? If you would ask me if performance enhancing drugs should be allowed in professional sports I would answer with a “no”. Performance enhancing drugs area banned substance that should not be allowed in professional sports due to the drug being an unfair advantage in sports. However, I do agree that products such as whey, protein and creatin should be allowed substances because they help to build muscle and boost performance in a healthy manner. Performance enhancing drugs which are on the banned substance list I believe should not be allowed in professional sports for the reason that they give athletes an unfair advantage in sports. I believe this because steroids do not make an athlete, steroids ruin an athlete. (Whittaker)
Today in professional sports Performance Enhancing Drugs have become a serious problem for many professional athletes. It’s a fact America is driven with the love for competition through professional sports and can even be a tad blood thirsty for the sport of their choice. I can compare the competitiveness of American fans with the ruthless fans of the gladiator games in the Roman Coliseum. Americans can even be harsh to the athletes if the athlete is not performing to the best of their abilities. Professional athletes are knowledgeable regarding the fact of how much Americans are crazy about sports and the athletes are willing to go to the extreme to prove to the fans that they are the best, and that their name can go down as one of the greatest ever to play the game. .(The Associated Press)
I believe that athletes who take drugs on the banned substances list are to be restricted or suspended from the league that they are playing in for a certain amount of time. I believe this because taking Performance Enhancing Drugs gives you an unfair advantage over those who are trying to gain strength the natural way, lifting weights and working out. (Whittaker)
There are six Performance Enhancing Drugs; Winstrol, Andrstenedione, Metheneolone enanthate, THG, Testorone, The Human Growth Hormone and Erythropoietin all are very harmful and can create deadly side effects to the human body. .(The Associated Press)
The Performance Enhancing Drug Winstrol is a banned substance. Other drugs that are in the same drug class as Winstrol include morphine, cocaine and methamphetamines. This drug is known to have a high risk of abuse. Winstrol is an anabolic steroid that is known to gain lean muscle without gaining water weight. Winstrol is known to be extremely highly toxic to the liver because of 17-methyl chain. The liver’s function is to filter waste in your blood stream and because of the extreme toxicity it can cause hepatotoxicity which can lead to jaundice, liver cancer and worse death. Athletes who were known to take this drug was Olympic runner Ben Johnson and MLB All-Star Rafael Palmeiro. .(The Associated Press) Androstenedione is also a banned substance. Androstrenedione is a natural produced hormone in the human body and is produced in the adrele glands, ovaries, and testicles. Once the drug is released in the body it is quickly converted into test one which can cause very serious issues such as; risk of glandular cancers, hair loss, water/salt retention, lower LDL levels (Low Density Lipoproteins), impotence, acne, oily skin, and increased sex drive. Former 12 time All-Star Mark McGwire is known for taking the harmful drug Androstrenedione. .(The Associated Press) Methenolone enanthe is a banned substance. Methonine creates amino acids and helps the amino acids build up faster than normal to create growth in muscles. Methenolone enanthe is the least severe out of the six Performance Enhancing Drugs but it still has some side effects. This drug can create oily skin, acne, increases in facial and body hair,
