The serial killer that I chose for this assignment is Pedro Lopez. He was born on October 8, 1948 in Santa Isabel, Tolima, Colombia. He is currently 68 years old as of today. The nickname he was given to him was: The Monster of Andes. He was responsible for the murders of over 350 children, most of them were younger girls. Pedro Lopez was an organized serial killer. His crimes were carefully planned. He stalked his victims for days until he got to know their habits, as well as the habits of their mothers in order to create an opportunity for himself. His plans included bribing and sweet talking his victims by pretending to be a friendly man of the streets. He would offer trinkets to many children. When he was in custody, he refused to listen to the police. When he was tricked by an undercover officer, he admitted to the murders. Pedro was charged with over 110 murders. He said that he was responsible for around 200 more of the deaths/ murders in Peru and Colombia. On July 31, 1981, Lopez, who was around 33 years old at the time, was found guilty for the murders of 57 young girls. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison in Ambato. There, he was diagnosed as a sociopath. On August 31, 1994, Lopez was released from Garcia Moreno prison after 14 years, which was two years earlier, because of good behavior. He was transported to Colombia, but in 1995, he was announced crazy and put into a psychiatric facility. In February 1998, he was announced to be right-minded and was released under a $50 bail. There was another case of a murder in 2002, and reports say that Lopez may have had a possible connection to it. It is unknown if he is either dead or alive, or exactly where he could be
