Being a wallfower sometimes isn’t as bad everyone makes it out to be. If some of you don’t know what a wallflower is, it is a person who has no one to dance with or who feels shy, awkward, or excluded at a party. The two main characters in Perks of being a Wallflower and Project X are two examples of wallflowers. Charlie is the main character in Perks of being a Wallflower and he never really fit in until Sam and Patrick come along and finally he feels like he belongs somewhere. Thomas is the main character in Project X and he has a two close friends who are labeled as “weird” or “outcasts.” Thomas’s friends want to throw him a birthday party to hopefully raise their popularity level. Thomas’s parents are gone for the weekend and they trust Thomas to only have a couple of friends over for his birthday but little did Thomas know that his friends were going to be throwing a huge rager. Charlie and Thomas as the main characters are social outcasts. They are not really involved in the community and they are not active in any sports activities either. They are not considered jocks. Charlie and Thomas have two or three friends that make them come out of their shell.

They don’t play any sports and sports seems to be a common denominator with jocks and being popular. Charlie and Thomas are also very quiet and they keep to themselves, they aren’t really the outgoing type of guys in their school. Charlie has a good environment at home with two good parents who want the best for him and Thomas also has two good parents who have trust in him and want the best for him also. Thomas’s dad commends him for throwing a party that big because his dad thought he was a loser but he has a big punishment for disobeying their
