“The perks of social networking” Naturally we are born with a sense for curiosity. As a child we see our friends playing with a new toy and we want to know what it is, how you play with it, and where you can buy it. With adults and teens we are continually fascinated in knowing what’s “in” so to speak. Take social networking for example. According to digitalbuzzblog.com, there are over 500 million Facebook users and 1 in every 13 people on earth log in every day. Over 700 Billion minutes a month are spent on Facebook, 20 million applications are installed per day, and over 250 million people interact with Facebook from outside the official website on a monthly basis. In my opinion the growth of social networking has, for better or worse, (or maybe both) had a profound impact on our social lives.
If you’re not in touch with today’s social networking sites then your missing out on some benefits that you might of never thought was possible. Although there are many social networking sites to get involved with such as MySpace, Twitter, and Instagram, for me Facebook has been a positive experience in my life. For instance, you get the opportunity to become friends with people who you wouldn’t normally meet all around the world. You can become friends with people you who have mutual friends in common with or become friends with complete strangers. You get to know them by the photos they share and what they write on the public news feed. You also get to see what their social life is like, if they are currently in a relationship, and what there interest are. If your lucky you just might get “ invites” to social group outings like football games, parties, and even job fairs.

I had befriended a girl from San Juan Puerto Rico and she told me about this amazing opportunity to earn extra cash during my free time at home on the computer. At first like most people I thought it was a scam. She told me all I had to do was invest $40.00 and I would not only receive amazing benefits, but would also get paid weekly for each person I referred and also investing $40.00 in the program. By the following Friday I made $480.00 for referring people who also invested $40.00. Another amazing financial benefit that I was able to make through the social networking of Facebook was modeling. A good friend of mine had a friend on Facebook who was a photographer and seen photos of me on her page and wanted me to model for him. He had messaged her saying,“ hey your friend is really pretty, you should tell her to request me so she can see my work. I think she would be a good model for my next upcoming photo shoot”. So I friend requested him seen his work and thought, why not try something new. A few weeks later I did a photo shoot with him in Millennium Park and Grant Park. He paid me $100.00 for four hours of his time and patience. My current part-time job that I have had for a year would not have happened if I did not look at my friends “about me page”. She had updated her work experience so I asked her what it is she
