Learning Style Personal Essay Everyone learns in different ways and at different paces. I have learned many different things about the different learning styles. I have also learned a few things about myself and my own personal learning style. I chose to go back to school and earn a college degree for my own personal goals. I am studying for my associates’ degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. My youngest daughter is pregnant with her first child, my grandson. My oldest daughter had my granddaughter almost 17 years ago so I am kind of out of practice when it comes to babies and toddlers. I felt like going back to school and getting a degree in this field would benefit me as well as my daughter. The more I learn the more I can pass onto my daughter and help her with my grandson. I took two different learning style quizzes and the results were very different surprisingly. The first quiz I took said I was a Visual Learner (Bixler, 2010). A visual learner means that I learn better with study materials, charts, notes, and so forth. The second quiz I took said that I was an Auditory Learner (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, 2012). An auditory learner means I learn things better by listening rather than reading. I do not agree with the second quiz I took that states I am an auditory learner (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, 2012). I actually have a hard time learning things just by listening to them. If someone just tells me how to do something I will get lost and confused when trying to do it myself. I feel I need a lot more help than just listening to how something is supposed to be done or what or how something is. I do however agree partially because I do have a problem with taking written tests sometimes. When I was in grade school the teacher would let me verbally give them the answers to the questions on a test because I had problems with the questions on the paper.…

“Cousins are the first friends we have as children. No one will ever understand your crazy family like they do.” –Anonymous. This is so true except for the fact that as a little kid I didn’t have any cousins my age they were all older but that didn’t affect my feelings on family being so important, even the ones in Italy whom I have not met them all.

I'm originally from Peru but on my father's side my family is Japanese. Since I was too young, I could not fully learn the Japanese language but I managed to learn the basic stuff on my own free time. Here in America, I would be considered mixed, but yet I consider myself full Peruvian, because I lived in Peru for 13 years but you'd be surprised of how many westerners and Asians live there, it's like a mini-United States…

Personal Essay- Stage 2
The topic of marriage has always interested me, mainly because I did not know much about it other than I knew that is what most people do when they get older. However, through the multiple readings and passages I read, I have gained a much better understanding of marriage and it has affected me in a positive manner as I approach closer to marriage myself. There were many topics that influenced me, but contraception, the…
Tracing back to the time at the age of 6, I found my interest, piano, which I would never thought to be the biggest success in my life I’ve persisted for so long. And it would never be the success without my mom helping me for lots. I felt totally attracted by the piano when I was in the kindergarten. That was the time my mother noticed my interest from my teacher’s words. She said that I often went to play the hand wind piano in my tone, even the piano cover fell…

The experience I gained at North Seattle Community College
With a dream of being a successful businesswoman, one year ago, I went to Seattle to attend North Seattle Community College. I chose to study here because of its excellence in teaching and its friendly campus. I have gained a lot of experiences at North Seattle as I lived faraway from home. Overall, that year affected significantly my perception of the world and of the future which I want to achieve.
I am Franklin. I am from Africa, Cameroon. I never knew how it felt to be deaf until I left Cameroon three years ago. There, I did not understand English at all. It did not make sense to me and, it was very painful experience. I could hear noise and people talking around me but I was not getting the meaning. It was very difficult to be around people that were learning, laughing, and joking and not be able to understand. This was the first time in my life, I felt excluded, like…
are an incredible race capable of great things and yet, we are equally capable of cheating, lying and all sorts of bad behaviour when it suits our purpose. I think that when faced with a situation where the perceived risk is less than the potential personal gain, where the consequences are minimal if any, humans will often choose to do the wrong thing in order to benefit themselves.
The TV program “What Would You Do?” takes this concept to another level, where they look at this issue not from an…

I was two years old when I came to America. Growing up I was occasionally reminded that I am an immigrant, which the thought itself surprised me. I consider myself to be American, having been raised in America most of my life. I have no accent and English is my first language. My parents speak Singhalese at home and I understand it very well, I just never learned to speak fluently. My parents tried to raise me with Sri Lankan…
