Ever since I moved to the United States from Pakistan when I was only ten everything has been different and a new experience for me. The people, the places, the culture, and the beliefs, everything was different. I am part of a unique group of diverse kids, who have been raised away from their parent's home culture for a large portion of their lives. I have been raised with Asian, Middle Eastern, and European, attitudes, and beliefs. Through traveling, I have witnessed many different cultures, values, and attitudes people in the world hold. Most notably, I have learned that the people are different and unique all around the world.
I was born in Karachi, Pakistan and I moved to the U.S when I was ten and ever since then I have moved around a lot, around the country and also around the world. After coming to the U.S I have been to six different schools in four different states. I have also lived in London, England for 3 months and also traveled across Western Europe with family. The person has to be willing to accept the new things and be willing to learn and be excited about the new experiences. Crossing cultures has allowed me to gain social and intercultural skills along with learning to being extremely adaptive. To me different races, color, and gender make no difference. The religion and language barriers are diminished. The new cultures, beliefs, and values have made me to be the person I have become today. I would want to hope that other people can also take advantage of the new cultures and the different people to learn from them and not be ignorant but respectful. I believe my multicultural and diverse backgrounds will aide my transition into the Terps family smoothly. I will contribute, strengthen the environment, and be a good asset to the diverse atmosphere of University of
