Personal Essay: The Things I Carry

The things one carries can tell much about a person. For Example, it the book, “The things they carried,” each solider carried their necessities and what they thought were necessities. One can tell much about each solider by the personal items. The soldiers, for instance, carried three to four canteens of water and food rations based upon the size of the individual. While these a just a few items they carried in the book, these were their most basic necessities. I carry an inhaler, a pulse oximeter, an epi-pen, and allergy form, my German flashcards, my insurance cards, a bottle of water, and a wallet. These things a necessity for my many health issues. My phone is not as important as my epi-pen or my inhaler. These necessities are carried with me daily and cannot be forgotten. In addition to all of the necessity item I carry, there are also some items I carry for fun. I always have a snack, headphones, and my Bible with me as well. I also carried the weight of many people. There are many men and women I carry as well. I am not physically carrying them; however, I am carrying the weight of their time and expectations they have given me. An example would be my Future Business Leaders of America advisor, Angela Yearry. She has given her time and even her resources to help me get to where I am today. As chapter president and a student aspiring for national office, I want to succeed not only for myself but also for her. I want to show her that her time and effort was well spent on me. A male that I carry would be my little brother. As a big sister, it is my job to show him how big kids are supposed to act. He will look at me to see how a future girlfriend should be. Even though he is a boy, he still looks up to his Bella. These people are just some that I carry around on me
