Twice
October 7, 2014 was the day that changed my life forever and my knee will never be the same. It was a nice warm day on October 7, 2014. The blue sky had some clouds but the sun was still visible . I had dressed out for P.E and walked out to my number in class. My teacher announced “Today we would play tug-a-war”. The class walked to the small grass baseball field. The class set up the game and was divided into teams. I never liked tug-a-war. It seems like every time I play this game I get a rope burn on my hands. My team played really well during the first game. The success of the first game gave me a boost of confidence. I was starting to like tug-a-war. The surgery was successful but I did not recover as well as they would like me to. In December 2015, I hurt my knee playing soccer. I thought I might have torn my ACL again but it turns out it was just a bad sprain. I sat out from P.E for a few months until late March. Sadly, in May 2016, I was assigned a mandatory for the school talent show I helped set up in ASB. My ASB class was practicing before class ended. Some of the 8th and 6th graders were watching my class at the door. Part of the dance was to jump in the air. I jumped when we were supposed to except I did not land it like everyone else did. I heard multiple cracks coming from my knee and I again felt sharp pain in my knee. The pain was slightly different because this time I felt my knee quickly swell up. I knew instantly that I tore my ACL again. I wanted to scream out from pain. I was flooded with so many emotions. I sat on the dirty tile until class ended. I felt glued to the floor. I couldn't cry, I couldn't scream, I sat there shocked only laughing at myself for no reason. My friends came to me, “Get up. Are you okay?” “I can’t” I said. “It hurts, my knee hurts.” One of my friends acted as a crutch and helped me up to a table. The nurse came and wheeled me to her office.
