Personal Narrative: A Career As A Childcare Worker

“Ready or not, here I come” a child said. Starting in July, I had my first summer job as a Childcare worker and I became so overwhelmed with the hardships I was facing. I never expected working with children would be so emotionally, physically and mentally taxing.
I began my job with supervising children. I thought it would be simple. When I arrived home my brothers said “had a fun time on your first day, sis?” and I responded saying “yeah, it's the easiest job ever.” As time passed, I noticed a change in what was easy. Instead of only supervising, I started teaching, helping and even playing with them. I could always remember the day in which a little boy asked me to play freeze tag. In my mind it was like, “RUN… run” then suddenly tag I was it.

I didn't understand what that meant at first. Taking of care boys was difficult since I didn't know their interest. It was hard to control them because they were children. I never knew what to do because I was a child myself. Complain how much I did not like the job because I was immature. Despite that, I observed what they were doing and how it can help become a better teacher to the children. This little boy named Justin was significant. He often loved playing with me. Games such basketball., board games and hide-seek was what he loved. He once called me his “best friend” because I remind him of his sister. I was startle. I never had someone so young call me their friend. As much as I did not liked the job, heme feel like I was meaningful. I became comfortable not only to him but to every child.
I woke up early in the morning feeling excited to work. Kept thinking, “what am I going to do today, would it be fun?” Now and then I talked to the children and trying to understand their problems. It was always easy to understand adults issue, but child you must
