Personal Narrative: A Career As A Sportswriter

As the NBA Finals looms, I listened to the great Lebron James' press conference. Throughout the interview, he constantly mentioned how Michael Jordan, universally regarded as the greatest basketball player ever, inspired him to become a basketball player. Similar to James, watching Jordan play made me want to become a professional basketball player. Unfortunately, I was too skinny, and quite frankly, I was not very good. After years of failing to make my high school basketball team, I realized I would never become a basketball player. But my love of the game of basketball never wavered. I would watch NBA games every night. One night, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points. It was the greatest performance I've ever seen. It was that moment, I realized I wanted to become a sportswriter, covering basketball games; I wanted to share my joy watching basketball with the rest of the world and becoming a sportswriter allows me to be a part of the game, without ever having to step on the court. Because web designers are expensive, I decided to take Allison Courses on web design. After 20 plus hours of courses, I was able to apply the information I learn to create my own website, and saving tons of money in the process. It is imperative for me to standout; there are millions of people who want to write about sports, but how many college students out there have their own website? I am also in the process of learning aspects of the radio, specifically AudioVault and Adobe Audition. Learning these aspects of the radio will allow me to create sports podcasts, and/or host my own live sports radio show. Some of my favorite sports writers host their own podcasts or radio show: Frank Isola, Chris Broussard, and my favorite Bill
