“Order up!”, said Sally, one of the waitresses, as she clipped the piece of paper to the line of orders.
Bacon cheese burger, no onions, extra cheese.
“Another burger! Are there no vegetarians in this town?” I thought as I walked back to the right hand corner of the room.
I slid the door of the freezer open and dug deep down to the bottom trying to find the special meat. Once I got hold of it, I could feel the nausea start. I walked over to the stove and threw it on, letting it start to cook. My hands felt clammy and I could feel the sweat building on my forehead. I grabbed the gallon of ice cold water and chugged it, hoping that it would calm me down. Although I was cooled down a little bit, I couldn’t help but continue to sweat.

“One more hour and you’re out of here.”
I continued to cook other orders that were given to me. Thankfully, they did not involve meat. I should’ve been happy that people wanted burgers because that meant that we would have less of it, but I just had an uneasy feeling in my stomachs every time I saw meat or even thought about it. It made me sick.
Time flew by so quickly! Next thing I knew, it was twenty-five minutes till closing. I started cleaning up around the kitchen. I put all the pots and pans in the washer, hand-washed the spatulas, spoons, and knives, scraped all the burnt or dried up grease off the stove, and wiped down the counter tops and tables. I never thought I could ever have been so happy to be cleaning this kitchen as I was. I just wanted to get out of here. As I was cleaning, I could hear the television playing in the other room.
Things have been great here in our town of Smithsville. Great weather for the rest of the week. Looks like it will be in the high seventies with low wind. Doesn’t look like there will be rain at all till next week, so enjoy the weather while we have
