From the humble origins of a soccer ball and peach basket, it’s a game that has certainly come a long way. I love basketball, and NBA.com is a manifestation of my love for the game beyond the hoop itself. As a Lakers aficionado with no ESPN, everyday of the season ends with two minute game recaps with Kobe Bryant’s fadeaway jumpers, Pau Gasol’s hook shots, and Shannon Brown’s dunking acrobatics. Through NBA.com, I’ve come to appreciate the history of the organization as a timeline of American culture, whether it’s Earl Lloyd’s inauguration as the first African American NBA player in 1950 or the economic standoff in the 2011 lockout.
