Since a little girl I always told myself that once I got older I would like to mentor girls just like me. According to the book, a mentor is a senior employee who sponsors and supports a less experienced person. Mentoring can serve career functions and psychosocial functions whether they are formal or informal. As I grew up I made that statement come to reality because once I got into my teenage years I knew I could teach someone under me about stuff I did not know growing up. Now I am in college I decided to join a program name Big Brother Big Sister. This program help children realize their potential and build their future. It also nurture children and strengthen communities. It took the program a long time to find me a match but once they did I grew to love my little and she grew to love me. …show more content…
I never knew being a mentor could also help me out. The reason I say this because I open up so much to her and can relate to so many of her stories. It surprise me on how much she have helped me to become a better talker and I feel like she has helped me to better prepare to mentor others. It is nice to know that I was the only person she open up to because she told me it is a lot of people who try to talk to her but she do not trust
