For the last ten years, I have not prayed. Like many who experienced abuse throughout their childhood, I lost hope that God was protecting me. On the eighth of November, when it was announced that he won Pennsylvania, I thought of my grandmother. Up until her passing, the devout Catholic from El Salvador prayed every night for those she loved and those she did not. I know this because my bedroom was right next to hers, and when she thought the whole house was asleep and she was alone, she asked God to protect me with all he had.
