Personal Narrative: Driving Up Head Lane

Driving up Head Lane I was peppered by dust while thoughts on the upcoming school year raced through my mind. Turning off Head Lane the road stopped throwing us about and became a freshly paved path. On each side of me tall yellow grass waves at me in a friendly way, while the whole time hiding little prickly cactuses that are always a pain. Tall Pine trees rise above me like stalagmites. From the stalagmite like trees thousands of pine cones littered the ground that are as pain to step on as legos. Once making it down the private drive way that seems to go on forever I pulled up behind a plethora of other cars and grabbed a couple of my mom’s salads out of the backseat. Kubb is game where on each side you have little pieces of wood and you knock over the opponents blocks then after knocking over your opponents you knock over the one in the middle to win. This is much like pool where you want to save the eight ball for last and don’t want to knock it over beforehand. Each year the new game grabs my attention and I won’t leave it alone until I’ve mastered it! This year however I failed miserably every time and had to finally come to the conclusion you can’t master every game! It started to get dark out and you could feel the excitement from all the kids and some of the adults because this meant the big game was starting soon! Once it was dark enough out all the kids and some adults gathered for a giant game of ghost and the grave yard. It seems a little weird that some adults and a couple of us seniors were playing ghost in the graveyard but it was a tradition that we played it, plus we all had a lot of fun with it. We would play numerous games until we didn’t have enough people because they had dropped out due to exhaustion! It was about twelve o’clock and it was time for my favorite part of the
