As the middle of the mountain was being reached the only thing that could be heard for miles was birds chirping. Not a soul in sight. The trees were so tall and bushy there they almost created a kind of canopy. When looking up there are only small beams of light shining through the holes in the green leaves. The branches stretch far from the trunk and intertwined with one another to create a barrier between the sky and the ground.
Higher up the mountain, the boulders begin growing. Up the path and to the left sat the most interesting sight. A tree had encased one of the boulders and had given it a house. She had a smile from ear to ear. She talked with her teeth. “Hello, can I help you with something,” secretly hoping they would just go away. “We just wanted to introduce ourselves and let you know that we are celebrating this weekend.” “Oh, that’s great”, when I really wanted to say Oh just my luck. “What are you celebrating?” “The summer solstice.” When she said this the entire group lit up with a glow like women about to have a baby. “Oh Okay?”, as I pondered what that could mean. Amy could tell that I had no idea what she was talking about so she decided to tell me. “We celebrate the solstice every season to bring in the new and everything is reborn. We attempt to become one with mother earth, and we allow ourselves to be free from the society. We sing and dance and just simply enjoy each other’s company.” They each had a part in the description of the event. “Well I don’t really celebrate such things, I am just out here trying to unwind and get away from my everyday life. Rachel screams “perfect!” and says “you have to at least stop by for an hour tonight, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I try to rush them out and tell them “sure I will stop by later and only for a few moments,” just to get them to leave. They all leave and I am finally able to go walk by
