Personal Narrative Essay: A NASCAR Race

The most memorable trip I have ever taken was to Talladega, Alabama for a NASCAR race in 2004. I have always enjoyed watching the races on T.V., but being able to be there in person was a whole different experience! There was no better feeling than the strong wind as the cars raced by on the track! The smell of popcorn, pizza, and fried food filled the air. The crowd was like no other! All of the fans were going crazy. The fans were screaming and jumping to cheer their favorite racer! It was such a great surprise being able to experience a NASCAR race. It all started when I arrived home from school on a Friday afternoon. My father, about to burst from excitement, handed me a small white envelope. I opened the envelope and there were some sort of tickets inside. Before I could decipher what the tickets read, my father yelled, “Pack your bags, we are leaving for the races in an hour!” I was so excited I jumped into my father’s arms and a few tears formed in my eyes. The eggs were so good they would just melt in your mouth and the bacon was so delicious and crunchy! A great way to start off a wonderful day! After we all were finished eating, we all got dressed and walked to the mountainous race track! We had to walk two long miles to get to the entrance. The big race did not start until the next day, but the racers were test driving their cars and making sure everything was working properly. We were allowed to get close by the cage of the track while the racers were practicing. ------- By the time we left the track it was time for dinner.
