Personal Narrative Essay: Red Lake

You wake up and look out your window only to see the blazing red sun rising over the calm blue waters. That’s what I would want to wake up too daily. That’s why If I could live anywhere in the world it would be on the shores of one of the most exciting fisheries in Minnesota, Red Lake. I enjoy the rural area life and love being sort of close to a bigger city and Red Lake has both! It doesn’t have many people in the small town, and It is also less than 40 miles from Bemidji, MN. What my favorite thing about Red lake though is that it offers some of the best fishing you can find in Minnesota.

One of the things that drove me to pick this place, is it is right by upper and lower Red Lake. A lake next to my home is ideal for me because I love to do recreational activities on the water like tubing and kneeboarding. Like I stated above, a small town probably wouldn’t have any big time supermarkets or sports stores, which makes Red Lake a great choice, because Red Lake is only 32.7 miles away from Bemidji, MN. That way I can enjoy all the things I love about a small town life, while also only having to travel a small distance to get everyday necessities. In a smaller town there are generally fewer jobs than in a big city, and having Bemidji nearby means, I won’t have to travel far to get to my job. This is why I think Red Lake is an ideal location for me to live.

Everything listed in this essay shows why I’d live in Red Lake if I could live anywhere. After a long, but rewarding day of fishing; you get to go home and see that same beautiful blazing sunset over the calm waters of Red Lake.
