It was a lovely Saturday morning, the birds were chirping and the sun was shining warm rays of sunlight. I got up, brushed my teeth and my hair, and got dressed. I went downstairs to the kitchen and joined my parents at the table for breakfast. We were eating semi-hot oatmeal that my mom had made earlier that morning. We put some oatmeal into our bowls and said our prayers. After a couple of minutes of talking about how our week was, my parents said that they had something important to tell me. They said that we were going to visit the Great Smoky Mountains, which were located on the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. I jumped up to hug my parents, and then without hesitation, I ran to my room to pack my bags. I packed some spare clothes, socks, an oversized jacket, and a binocular. After we had all finished packing, we all got into the car, and we were on our way.

At the museum, there was a presentation going on about the Great Smoky Mountains, I and my parents sat down and quietly listened to the presentation. When listening to the presentation on the history of the Great Smoky Mountains, I found out that the Smoky Mountains were established as a national park on July 15, 1934. And was as a National Park because the people of the Smokies wanted a National Park, such as Ann Davis. Ann Davis is credited for suggesting a National Park in the Smokies, after visiting several national parks with her husband, Willy Davis in 1923.
