Ciara’s mind kept racing as she lay in bed. She just stared at the lines of sunlight that ran across her ceiling as she ran over yesterday’s events. Part of her wanted to believe that what Mr. Murphy had said to her was just a product of him being old and paranoid. However, there was a nagging part of her that believed what he said. This worried her. She was worried that the new life she created was crumbling down around her again. Despite the fact that it involved Deaglan, the man who killed her loved ones, she didn’t want to lose him. Ciara couldn’t handle losing another person who cared about her, no matter the fact that he was the devil incarnate. It’s better to have someone than no one. Deaglan motioned for her to take a seat. “I heard you had a bad day yesterday,” he said to her with a calm, but concerned tone. “Well, I want you to take the next few days off. You’ve been one of our best employees and you deserve a few days to treat yourself.” He then handed her a big envelope. With a surprised look on her face, she took the envelope and carefully opened it. Her eyes opened with excitement. Inside the envelope was a wad of cash and a gift certificate to a local spa. “I will have my driver take you to the spa where you can spend the day getting pampered head to toe. Then, when you are done, he will take you on a shopping spree. You can buy whatever you want, where ever you want.” Ciara couldn’t believe that he or anyone would do such a thing for her. “Thank you so much!” she said to Deaglan. She gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She felt her shaky hands slowly begin to finally calm down. Ciara felt like a weight had been lifted as she made her rounds for the day. She felt like nothing could bother her. In fact, nothing did bother her. Even when Mr. Murphy tried to talk to her when she stopped by; his words seemed to bounce off of her. She couldn’t wait for her days off. It had been a long time since Ciara did something for herself and herself alone. When her day was finally over, Ciara’s heart began to race with excitement.
