Personal Narrative: Freeport High School

I was raised in a small town in Texas named Freeport. My family that I ever known is my mother, two sisters, aunt, cousin, and my maternal grandmother. The rest of my family lives in Mexico, but I never been able to get a chance to meet them. I live in a two bedroom duplex with my mother and older sister, and we share the other half with my grandmother. My neighborhood is predominantly hispanic, and growing up in my neighborhood there has always been stealing and drug related issues. Even though, the Freeport community is small it is united, and always having events for the community to come together. The high school I attend is named Brazosport High School, and I have been in situations that I have that give me more motivation into furthering my education. It showed me to do the opposite, and educate myself for my and my families better good. Also, having a small family and being the male of the house has showed me to appreciate things more and has made me more responsible. The second reason that shaped me up was the death of my friend Ulysses, his death made me realize that life is too short for us as human beings not to make any difference in our lives. I would also like to educate myself as much as I can, because for me to have the knowledge of a successful person. Sports also helped me, because it made me focus more on school and it would keep me off the streets. Another person that motivates me is my mother showed me to value my education because other people like herself were not able to finish school. I have also witnessed my mother work five different jobs as a custodian with a small amount of money to provide for me and my sisters needs. My mothers’ hard work made me realize is that anything is possible if you have great motivation and work
