Personal Narrative: Hershey

The loss of a pet is a very challenging time. My family and I had a chocolate lab named Hershey. I was not very old when he died. It was hard to lose him even though I did not know him very long. Waiting a year and a half was hard, but when we got a new dog it was very exciting. Having a pet has positive and negative effects on your life. When I was born, we had a lab named Hershey. Since he was a chocolate lab and he was the same color as a chocolate bar, he was named Hershey. My parents bought him when he was four or five years old from people who could not take care of him. She was a lot of fun to play with and she was very energetic. We did not get her that day, but the employees told us that the dog we were interested in was going to be at Petsmart the next day. We went to Petsmart and we were going to make the final decision if we were going to get her. My sister and I really wanted her but my dad was hesitant about the idea of getting her. He did not know if we were ready for another dog. My sister and I really wanted her so we exclaimed “ we will do everything to take care of the dog!”
Finally, after hearing from the vet that the dog would be a good fit for our family, my dad exclaimed “we can get her!” My sister and I were so excited to get the dog. We did not bring her home right away because we had to get stuff like a dog bed and the other necessities first. Once we picked up all of the stuff we needed, we brought her home. Her original name was Sarah Jane but we did not like that name so on the way home we were thinking of a new name for her. One of the first name suggested was Allie and we all agreed on
