Ciara spent the rest of the day trying to figure a way to be free from Deaglan. It then dawned on her; she would have to do more than just show appreciation and pretend to have interest in him. She figured that she would have to do favors for him and bring him presents. Then, once he trusted her and let his guard down, she could make her escape. She was not a very creative person, but she knew how to follow directions and recipes. She figured that she could bake him something as a gift. Ciara knew that the quickest way to a guy’s heart was through his stomach. What guy could deny fresh baked goods? She spent the next two days baking muffins and cookies. She attempted to gather her nerves and grabbed her things, along with the basket. She made her way through the door and towards the stairs. She looked up to see if Deaglan was waiting for her, but he was nowhere in sight. She then decided to take some initiative and made her way up the stairs. She then gently knocked on his door. “Come in!” Deaglan shouted from inside. She slowly opened the door and poked her head around. “Sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to drop off something for you!” she said with a smile. As Ciara finished talking, she noticed a look on his face that she had not seen before. He looked surprised and genuinely happy. He then motioned for her to come in. As she entered the office, she could see his smile grow once he noticed what she was carrying in her hands. “What is this?” he asked her. “I just made a little something to show you how much I appreciate everything you’ve done for me!” she responded. Ciara then placed the basket on his desk and, before she could leave, he grabbed a cookie and took a bite. “Thank you Ciara. They are delicious!” he said with a muffled voice. She smiled and turned to leave. As she made her way down the stairs, she felt a small sense of relief. So far, her plan seemed to be going as she had hoped. Now all Ciara had to do was keep this up.
