It would have been nerve-wracking enough to meet up with Adam Levine somewhere in the city to exchange the photos for the video evidence, let alone adding the extra challenge of now having to fly to meet him. Lexi wasn’t particularly confident in her ability to pull through this new challenge without any problems, but she appreciated Richard’s faith in her nonetheless. He didn’t think she was weak, but he also didn’t know how easily she had given in to Karl’s demands just to spare herself some physical pain. “I know we don’t have a choice…but I wish we did. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy but damn, this just keeps getting harder.” The heiress paused to watch him step to the window and glance outside, the anger and uncertainty suddenly draining from her tense body when she finally took notice of how hard he was trying to protect her. She realized that unconsciously she was trying to build barriers between them and take her frustration out on him since he was the only target, when in reality he was only trying to do his best for her.
