Personal Narrative: How Baseball Has Changed My Life

In 0.40 seconds, a decision has to be made. No hesitation, or it's too late. Not only must one be on time, but one must be accurate with the placement of the bat. Baseball is a game of precision, which has taught me to be just that. Baseball is game in which every single detail makes all the difference, which is exactly the same way with life. Baseball has been passed down from generation to generation in my family, and that pastime has changed my life. Baseball has been America’s pastime since it first became a thing. It has brought people together for years and years. That is exactly what baseball has done for my family, and that is bring us together. Growing up through broncho to mustang, I made my friends and grew close to people I never thought I would. I met many people from different cities as well that I made friends with. Baseball has taught me how to play with others and how to build relationships. Some days people just are in a bad mood, or just don’t feel like they usually do. Baseball teaches one to keep going, all seven innings. My father was the coach of my pony team. It was my eighth grade year, and the team we had consisted of all my close friends. We were a talented team overall. But the thing I remember the most is the bond that grew between my father and I. He has always been my number one supporter throughout my life in sports. He has always guided me in the right path. But, he never was very involved in my sports life, as far helping coach and things along those lines. He did for two main reasons. He taught me that I don’t need him to rely on everywhere I go. Some parents are so intuned with helping the children, they do too much. One day I'll be on my own and their parents won't be there. Another reason he wasn’t there is because he works shift work, because he didn’t finish college. So he taught me to always excel in school to get a good job, that way I can have good hours to be there for my kids day when they need help. He taught me the fundamentals of the game, and the fundamentals of life. He changed my life that year in many ways. He taught me many valuable lessons in life. But the biggest in my opinion came down to two things; time and people. He has always stressed to me about how I only have so many years to play ball, because one day I will graduate high school and college and be done with sports. Also, the time that one put in with sports one can never get back. Also, he taught me to take care of people, like my younger brother. He has
