Personal Narrative: How Football Changed My Life

Everyone grows up with dreams of becoming successful in some point of their life. Growing up I always dreamed of playing football. As time progressed, I later found out that football was something that I did not want to become involved with. Freshman year of highschool, I decided to run track. I was tall with long legs and very clumsy, but I had speed to make up for it. I had no technique, all I knew was to just run like Forrest Gump to the finish line as fast as I could.
My coach suggested that I should run the 110 and 300 meter Hurdles. I was kind skeptical at first, but I decided to give it a shot. My very first time I ever ran a hurdle race, I was terrible. I had no form, no technique, not anything, I had zero experience with running the hurdles. To be honest, I was pretty much running off of faith. I worked so hard during the off season, I was one-hundred percent sure that I was going to state. All my friends were telling me that I was going to make state because they watched me train extremely hard during off season. I ran the 110, 300 meter Hurdles, and High Jumped again that year. Looking back from when I first started doing track, to where I was at my Junior year. You would have thought my talent developed overnight. I was first in almost all my races. I improved so much that I was number 7 in our region.I was doing very well my Junior year. I was doing so well, that I even advanced in High Jumping. I still was not all that good, but I was enough to be in the newspaper again. Unfortunately, the hard work and dedication that I put in on the off season was not enough.
