Personal Narrative: I Am Mexican-American

The meaning of Mexican has been based on the stereotypes that are wrong. Many consider that because someone speak spanish or have Mexican family, they are Mexican too. On the contrary, the word American has been focused on white people, and not in other different type of skin color, or cultures. However, I had pass through the problem to identify myself. Almost all the people that I met classified me as Mexican for my family or language. And I believe that they are wrong because I am not Mexican, I am Mexican-American. According to the dictionary Rhymezone a Mexican-American is a person that have Mexican descent and is living in the United States. Therefore, I am Mexican-American because I am a mixture of both cultures, with the same love for them. Despite I born in Texas, I grew up in Mexico. My family and close friends live there, everything that I know, I learned from Mexico. Basically, my roots are in Mexico, but I left it to ascertain my other roots in the United States. At the beginning I was disconcerted with the drastic change from Mexico to the United States, but now I am trying to ascertain my identity. The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe it is celebrate it every December 12th, we often make a little dinner and pray to give thanks to the Lady of Guadalupe.
