“Megan we are ready for you,” a nurse stated. It all started on the last day of school at soccer practice. I was offered to play with varsity for regionals. Of course I was guarding one of the best seniors, therefore I was giving it my all. Suddenly she made a quick cut catching me off guard. Reacting quickly, I hustled to get the ball. My leg began to move, however my knee did not. Following soon after, my knee came to an abrupt stop and I heard a “pop”. I had never felt a feeling like this before. As a result, I fell straight to the ground. When I would try to straighten my leg it felt as if my leg was a rubber band, extremely tight as if it was at its breaking point. My coach went looking for our trainer, but she was nowhere to be found. Thinking nothing of it, I decided to go home and see how it felt in the morning. For the most part, when I woke up my knee felt the same, tight and stiff. Walking on the tips of my toes was the only option in order to not feel pain. There were only three days left until the big game against Kimberly. Considering I never got the chance to see my trainer, Lucy, Brandon suggested having the Kimberly trainer take a look at my knee. The thought of possibly never waking up scared me. However, I knew that there was a very slim chance of that happening. I continued to wait until it was time for surgery and when the day finally came I was ready. I was not allowed to eat for twenty-four hours prior to surgery, and I had to use special soap in the shower. My parents told me it was time to go, so I put on my shoes and got into the car.
