Personal Narrative: Joan Of Arc

If I could have a thirty minute conversation with anyone it would be Joan of Arc. Joan was a french war hero, who led France to victory only at the age of eighteen. She demonstrated determination, persistence, courage and leadership throughout her journey. At a young age, she began to hear voices accompanied by a light, identified as saints. She used these manifestations as her counsels to guide her through distress and tribulations at war. Being a person who has heard the voices of saints at a young age of thirteen, I would ask her how did she remain strong in her faith? Were there ever times of doubt?

In the beginning of my high school years, I’ve experienced my own dilemma. My parents divorcing my freshmen year of high school, has impacted who I am today. I started to become more independent by getting a job to help reduce my mother’s expenses and as the oldest of two younger sister, captain of the cheer team and chairmen of clubs I was often looked at for direction, guidance, and courage. Being a women in the fourteen hundreds it was difficult for her to be taken seriously by everyone including her own people solely based on the fact that she wasn’t a man. Women at the time were not supposed to be fighting in wars let alone leading and winning wars. Even now in the 21st century women are undermined and not getting the same respect in the working field as men. I would tell Joan that she’s inspired me to become strong-willed and her obstinate personality has inspired me to work even harder and educate other young people by joining organizations in school such as Sources of Strength and Black Student Union to promote and educate them about the importance of skills that helped me stay focused even in times of
