The great war finally ended. It is like the U.S. is seeing the world with new eyes. There are new possibilities for everyone, even me. I always thought that when I grew up all I could do was raise children, but now, after the war, I can do so much more.
Before the war, my family had barely enough food to have dinner every night. When my father got drafted, it was bittersweet, Father was going to a war that seemed to have no end in sight, but we needed the money. We already had just enough money to get by without him, when my older brother, Danny, turned nineteen and almost immediately after got drafted.
