The resonant screams coming from the girls, the cold creeping through my body, I could see nothing but dim phone lights reflecting against the bleak glass. We were moving briskly through the mountains, hitting small bumps and making wide turns around the rim. My eyes were only open enough to peer through my eyelashes, while trying to catch a glimpse of what was in front of me, a pop in my ear distracted me. I clenched my eyes shut, catching just a few more moments of peace. My vernal mind was entering a place I have known for far too long. I have been here countless times, yet it is never the same experience as last time. You go in for answers, and you come out with questions. Some have their answers and come for personal rehabilitation in their faith, others seek self assurance in the answers they think they have, and many come because they question their beliefs entirely. Personally, I will never find the exact answers I am looking for, so my experience is my seeking for self assurance. Coming to Young Life camp is a place where I seek help in the parts of my religion that I question.
