The doors finally opened and the students came rushing in, meeting everyone here back again for the new school year. Talking to each other about what they did over the summer, how did it go, and just happy to see each other here back again for the year. This is my second time back here again in high school and glad to see my old friends still here, especially Lucia. She was my best friend during elementary school, she helped me when I was having a rough time moving here to Augusta, Maine when I didn’t know anyone here. I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee and I always loved my old southern state, but that changed. I was only 7 when I had to move here because my parents a divorce. They would fight and argue against each other, I sometimes would hear it from my bedroom late at night. That was our spot when we wanted to find each other and hang out during lunch. When I was about to walk up to her, I suddenly saw someone that was talking to her, it was Cody. Cody was Lucia’s boyfriend, she told me during the summer that he and she met during the end of the last school year. That they both spend most of their summer with each other, talking on the phone. Over time, they started to like each other and eventually fell in love. Lucia would always talk about what he is like and how he is that makes her special and good inside, I never met him and finally will get to see him. I started walking up to her and called her to get her attention, “Lucia!” She quickly heard my voice and turned to see me coming to her and Cody. “Amy!” she said, smiling at me and rushing over to me.
