Personal Narrative: Maxine Hong Kingston's Women Warrior

If I could meet a character from a book I would desire to meet Maxine Hong Kingston, the author of "Women Warrior". The reason I would want to meet her is because from her writings I feel extremely connected to her and the struggles she faced. Her parents came to America but still attempted to share their Chinese culture and background with their children. Because of her parent's decision Kingston was outcast-ed by her fellow classmates for not living by what society claimed was normal. What I would ask her is how she found the strength to use the pain she experienced to write such an encouraging story about her troubles. I went through similar experiences as her such as speaking broken forms of two languages and having trouble making friends due to cultural differences. I enjoy learning about all the forms of life and how the smallest cellular components in every living thing assists in making living organisms function.

My favorite books are fiction because I enjoy the creativeness put into them and they help fuel me with new outside of the box ideas. My favorite movies are horror ones because I enjoy debunking the plots with common sense.

My favorite source of inspiration is volunteering at animal shelters and making the lives of abandoned and scared animals more comfortable and enjoyable. I find joy in seeing an animal start off on a new happy beginning.

If the weekend is during the school year then I try to get ahead in my studies to make my life easier and I also dedicate my time to spending time with my family and friends. In the summer I tend to do more volunteer work.
