Personal Narrative: My Boston Field Trip

This semester, I learned how to travel the city and how to explore the cultures within it. In my Boston course, we traveled to different sides of Boston by either subway or city bus. For me, traveling by city bus and subway was informative because I have ridden any type of public transportation. In the Boston course, so I had the experience of learning the subway and the city bus. One field trip was exploring the surroundings of Simmons college; the restaurants, stores, and community gardens close by. We visited the North End, East End, Boston Public market, and Chelsea Community Garden. Chelsea Community Garden was my favorite place we visited because I was able to see many cultures come together to make such a beautiful and peaceful place. Throughout the semester I feel I have improved in writing from doing a lot of reflective essays and the many drafts of the best diet research essay. I understand since using a different format but wish I had a better introduction on how to write a research paper and how to write in Chicago style form. Some techniques I learned that become really helpful was re-reading my essay out loud, and summarizing articles in my own words, then summarizing my own words again so I can understand the information as clearly to myself as possible. Writing an outline always is a great technique that I will continue to use in my future classes. I have not yet come across a technique that does not work for me. Elements that I am going to take forward with me are subtitle headings. Professor Brown insisted I used headings, but I wasn’t sure at first on how to exactly format them, but I learned eventually and that helped me begin to organize and write my essays, which I will bring with me into future
