I have been running track since my freshman year. When you are an athlete, knowing how and when to be a leader is very important. Overall in my experience I learned that leaders don't always lead, but sometimes observe, listen and learn from others in order to get better. As an underclassmen I watched my fellow colleagues over the years. I saw how confident and diligent they were, when it came to practicing and working hard. In my experience as a track runner I had to learn to be confident in my abilities, stay diligent and be myself. What makes me a good leader in track and field is that I was and still am willing to watch and learn from others. As an NHS student you are looked at as a leader. We help assist underclassmen with any concerns that he or she may have, help with school events and work closely with our teachers and peers. This year I was given the opportunity to be student council treasure. My responsibilities include, event planning for both the upper and underclassmen. As a member of student council, we find ways to help build a stronger school community and family. I really enjoy being apart of these two groups because it not only give me the opportunity to voice my ideas and opinions but the ones of my classmates as well.
