Personal Narrative: My First Game

My First Game As a six-year-old kid growing up in Chicago I lived for baseball. Chicago has never had anything going for them but the one thing they have had are the White Sox's Baseball team. My father was a huge fan and I had grown up watching the games. When I was five my dad told me that we would be going to the White Sox’s v As game. Although the game was not an important game it was still a wonderful gift. I spent all day getting ready and gathering all my sportswear. I dressed as my favorite player, Neal Cotts. I wore a jersey and baseball pants and of course, I brought my glove. The next day I woke up at 5:00 am. I sat alone for over 2 hours waiting for my dad to wake up. He got up around 7:30 and made me breakfast. He said, “Chris are you excited?” I think he didn't really know what he was getting into. I started to speak and didn't stop. Finally, we hopped in the car and rode into Chicago. As I saw the Sears Tower rising in the distance, my heart began to race. We made it into the stadium and I looked in awe at the thousands of fans. Around me, food vendors yelled and fans yelled back. “HADDOG!!!! Who wants a HADDOG?” One yelled “Bud Light!!! who wants one??” We found our seats and settled down. All I remember is waking up in my bed the next morning and thinking about the game. The Game hadn't been so much about what was happening on the field. Baseball games are about culture and enjoying “America’s Pastime” Food and fans and the general atmosphere is what makes a baseball game fun. Currently, I do not go to a lot of sports games. But when I do, I always go to the baseball games. Football might be more interesting and hockey might be more intense but nothing can beat a Baseball games environment and
