As a first generation college student, I strive to achieve everything I set my mind to. I was born and raised in Columbia, SC, and attended almost every elementary school in Lexington District 2. As a child my mother, my little brother, and I lived with my grandmother most of the time. Sometimes we would be on our feet well enough to live on our own, but that wasn’t always the case. My childhood was just like any other, I played with barbies, climbed trees, and loved puppies. Although I lived like a “normal kid,” I saw and experienced something’s other kids may not have.
