Personal Narrative: My First Home Run

Achieving something for the first time can be amazing and scary. At one point in time everyone achieves something and is very proud of it. My achievement that I am most proud of is hitting my first home run. It was very exciting, yet very overwhelming at the same time. There were many emotions going through my head at once. I kept asking myself, “Is this even real?” and “How far was that shamamalamadingdong hit?” All I knew is that is was one of the greatest moments of my life, and that I’ll remember this forever. There are just certain things in life that you will always remember. For me, as mentioned earlier, is hitting my first home run. The funny thing is my dad is a traveling business man, so he was not able to make it to the game. It was the bottom of the fourth and we were winning by large margin (I forget what the actual score was). One of my teammate’s dad asked my mom, “Where’s Russ tonight?” and she told him he’s on a business trip. My teammate Cameron Marchi, who was was batting third in the batting order, had just walked to load up the bases. That puts me up to bat. Ironically, my mom FaceTimed my dad to see my at bat.
First pitch, “BALL ONE!” shouts the umpire. I was relieved and also very nervous. I don’t get nervous about much, which is saying something about this situation.

She retrieved it and gave it to my coach. The funny thing is, I didn’t get the ball right away. After the game, we went out to right field and had our post-game talk. Meanwhile my coach still had the ball in his pants pocket. He said, “And now for our MVP.” I stood up and all of the parents and teammates stood around me as coach presented me with my homerun ball. It was a very proud moment for me. I went home and never took my eye off of that baseball. I later then went to bed with the ball still in my hand. A few days later, I finally put the ball in my home run ball case. I knew that case would continue to fill
