I rushed down the field, the ball only a few steps ahead of me. I go to kick the ball; I struck the ball. The ball soars through the sky hitting the crossbar before gliding into the net just above the keeper's hands. I didn’t know it then but that was the last soccer game I ever played. It was the last time I was ever going to wear my school colors and be part of a team.

I was cut from the soccer program the next year, and it was difficult to walk away from a sport that I grew up playing. It made me feel heartbroken; it was like I just wasted all my time and effort that I put in. This was first time I was ever denied the privilege of doing something I loved.
