My Jambo Experience And we were off. I was so relieved to be away from the humdrum known as the welcome center. All the boring, tedious paperwork was behind me. No more lines to wait in or health forms to worry about. Now came even more unknown; where we were going to stay for the next two weeks. I was at the 2017 National Boy Scout Jamboree in little old Glen Jean, West Virginia. Accompanying me on this new experience were my two friends Dan and Kurt. We were going to be in the Jamboree Band. Picture this; people from all over the United States were coming to the Summit Center to learn new songs and play as a group in front of thousands of scouts everyday. The bus ride felt like an eternity, but eventually we rolled up to the Summit. Next, we got out of the bus, and boy did it feel like we just stepped into an oven. Dan, Kurt, and I were in direct sunlight in an open field with no shade; I could feel my skin getting fried. I could taste the salt from my sweat around my lips almost instantaneously. We got to play exciting music, zip line, mountain bike, and even see the president! My stay at the Summit Bechtel Reserve truly was a life changing experience. I got to play my trumpet with all the new friends I made in front of thousands of people each and every day. During that trip I realized how music can bring people together in ways nothing else can. Each gig we would see people dancing, singing, cheering, laughing, and having a grand old time with other people from around the U.S that they had never met before! Since this trip I truly believe that I have changed as a person in that I am having more fun, being a more organized, responsible person, and working hard for what I want in life. My Jamboree experience has made these wonderful attributes become a part of my everyday life and I am very grateful for
