Job Shadow Journal I did my job shadow in ultrasound at avera mckennan hospital on December 3, 2015. I did not specific shadow under one person. I would watch one of three sonographer who worked at avera. Their names were Jodi, Dan, and Ashley. Dan came and got me from the waiting room of the ultrasound and radiology area. He took me back the area where the sonographers sit waiting for a new patient. When I first arrived in the back room is started to ask my questions. I did that for a while until they go their first ultra sound. However I did not go with a sonographer to watch on that appointment. Only because they had a student from STI and she was taken to go watch the sonographer. I then waited for a little bit longer then Ashley got a appointment in. I followed her into a room right next the room where all the sonographers sit. She turned on the machine and go all of her things ready. She got out a towel, checked if she had enough jell to put on the transducer. Then she went to go get the patient. She had the patient unbutton one of her buttons on her pants and put a towel on her jeans. This specific patient was having pain in her stomach. Which she thought was the result of some surgery she got years ago. Ashley did her ultrasound having her turn to each side so she could get a clear picture of what she needed…show more content… It opened my eye to what the life of a sonographer is really like. One example is I didn't realize that had a down time. I thought that they had appointment after appointment and no time in between. One of the ladies were able to handle some stuff for her personal life. I learned about how the machine worked. How they label the images so whoever looks at the images. You have to put label of the area you are looking at and which way the transducer was positioned. They have different types of transducers too, only because people are different sizes and also what you are trying to look
