Personal Narrative: My Journey To A Community College

A trip down memory lane brings back a harsh scene of me collecting my high school transcript and hanging my head down low in disappointment. I was devastated and teary-eyed, from looking at my less than mediocre results. In that moment, I questioned if school was ever going to be an option for me again. Maybe, I just wasn't smart or intelligent enough to pursue higher education.
I then decided to enlist in the military for my national service. The real life danger and obstacles encountered have been a grueling test of a person's will, yet I was able to accomplish all the tasks thrown my way in those two years. With a fresh new outlook in life, I was now stronger and more motivated than ever to head back to school and succeed in my journey of education.

Earning a bachelor's degree at a university would definitely open up more doors for me and thus I knew it was time to challenge myself a little more by transferring and going on to a bigger learning institution. By transferring to a four-year university, I knew that there would be more hands-on opportunities like internships where I could have real world experience working in the field. There would also be a dedicated faculty in a specific discipline that would help further ensure I grasp the most out of my learning experience.
Growing up, my extensive knowledge of pop culture and media has shaped a large part of my identity and creative skills. I decided it was time to put these abilities to good use by majoring in Communication and further studying how media and culture is represented and communicated towards the public.
