When I first came to Scarsdale Middle School, I had no idea that I would learn so much about life and friendship. Before Human Rights Day in sixth grade, many big, scary eighth graders would come to our homeroom to sell these red bandannas. I bought one not knowing what the meaning was behind this. I wore it on Human Rights Day because that's what everyone else did. Then the following year I bought another red bandanna and knew that it had something to do with 9/11.
When I came to eighth grade I soon realized what these red bandannas were all about. In English class I learned what being a hero really means and the actions Welles Crowther took to save those lives. I learned how one man’s courage saved over twelve people. At school we learn
