Frankly, I hate discrimination and any law that facilitates less than equal treatment towards members of our global society. Unfortunately, at an early age, I learned the pain and anguish such treatment can have on the mind, body, and soul. The plain truth is, I live the life of an active member of the LGBTQ+ community. For this reality, I have been verbally and physically harassed and bullied. The pain and moments of sheer anger resulting from this are far too numerous to recount here. And while in recent years we have made enormous legal strides in our LGBTQ+ community, there are still many instances where we are harshly reminded that we are considered second-class citizens and are not fully protected by federal law. Moreover, LGBTQ+ people around the world face inequality and violence and I intend to become one of the legal minds that will change this raging torrent of hatred and intolerance. …show more content…
I have learned many things about myself. For instance, I am a multi-cultural lesbian who is multifaceted with a plethora of interests, accomplishments, passions, strengths, and weaknesses. I am a woman, daughter, friend, and leader. The truth I live is that human rights are inherent to every person regardless of sex, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
