Personal Narrative: My Life As A Golf Player

The first time that Jake ever had experience with golf was when he was in middle school. He swung his first club at his local golf course in Winchester. He played with his dad initially as a bonding experience and still does to this day. He never really took it seriously enough to ever think about competing because in his mind, hockey would be his sport. This mindset completely changed when he failed to make the varsity hockey team. It was tough at first, but it was different this time. Trying a new sport is never easy, but this had a different feeling to it. Others noticed it too. “From what I’ve been told, it came kind of naturally.” Unlike most of his competitors, he never received any lessons. He was taught by his dad and by his ability to watch and study the professionals that he had admired. Not only was I able to learn about another person, I was also able to open up in a way I have never before. It was great to learn about Jake on a deeper level. I found out that we actually have a lot in common, especially when it comes to the things we're passionate about such as our academics, sports, and most importantly our family. Jake and I may have come from different backgrounds, but we have similar goals for the future. I think everyone want to find a job and make money, but both Jake and I want to help out the less fortunate. It especially means a lot for me because that how I ended up where I am today. If not for all the help I received from my teachers, mentors, friends, people inside my community and most importantly my family, I wouldn't be in the position I am today. Looking back at the motivation that Jake has, I think it would do me good to look back at my own story to dig deeper and find out what motivates me to do what I do everyday. This was a great overall experience and one that I wouldn’t mind doing
