“Everthing you do has some effect, some impact” -Dalai Lama. After fourteen years of life I am blessed to say that I have done and experienced so many things and met so many incredible people. Everything from dancing, being in Student Council, and even just talking to family have shaped me into the person that I am today.
To begin, I have been dancing for the past twelve years I have been dancing, at first at my local studio, but now I am a part of my high school dance team. I was also chosen to be a part of the NYU Future Dancers and Dancemakers Program. Of course I enjoyed myself, but there was a certain way that I had to carry myself in front of parents and my superiors.
My seventh and eighth grade year I was chosen to be a part of the peer mediation group for my middle school. In this group we learned what it mean to be a peer mediator and how to resolve outside situations. Even though this technique could not be used directly in school, it is something that I continue to carry with me.
As a peer mediator my eighth grade year, we had the privilege to go to the Horizons School in Livingston, New Jersey. For months we had been preparing activities and banners and banners that we would present to the children during their annual walk. Each day after school I’d read a description of a child and make them a poster with their favorite things to give to them the day of the walk. On paper the read as normal everyday kids, but when we met them they had disabilities, but their disabilities did not stop them from living their life at all.
