At 10:30 pm, as my sister and I was walking outside with our baggage, I could hear from the other side of a door a lot of people screaming. Immediately I knew that my mom must have been waiting for us with excitement. My heart started beating fast again, my eyes got watery, and my hands were shaking. As soon as we crossed the door, my mom was standing there with a big sign that said “Welcome”. We hugged, kissed, cried, and laughed. Later, my mom took us to the Bayside Park, where we ate some chicken wings at Hooters. We watched people dancing outdoors, and we saw the ocean for the first time. Finally, when we got home, I just thanked God for giving me this opportunity. This was a new beginning where many more adventures were waiting for me in the future. …show more content…
This country has given me an opportunity to go out of my comfort zone, to go beyond my limitations, and to prove myself that I am a warrior. I have learned a new culture, language, and traditions. It has been 10 years, and I feel like if it was yesterday that this poor girl arrived in this country expecting a big future. This adventure is and will always be the best memory in my life. If I was right now in Colombia, I think I will be still in the same poverty. Right now I am living the best years of my life; it is all because of that decision my mom, my sister and I took 12 years ago. A decision we will never be regretful
