Personal Narrative: My Mission Trip To Nicaragua

Passion is a strong word that can take on many forms. Weather the form is love or hate or joy or sorrow, it serves a driving force inside the human soul that brings about everything, from art to war. Yet, passion does not always have to be a massive war to change the world. It has been said, “if you change yourself, you change the world.” The passion inside drives these changes, and my goal is to change the world with my passion, music. People allow their emotions to be affected by the music they listen to. While also having the capability to alter people’s perspectives on different issues and subjects, whether on friends, family, or just about life in general. There have even been stories of people on the verge of emotional and mental collapse who claim that a song saved their life.
Personally, during my time in Nicaragua, I came to realize this. As one of the praising team member for my church, I volunteered to go on a ten day mission trip to Nicaragua. It took a lot of time, effort and willingness to prepare for the trip. We held many charities such as, garage

Once the melodies started to flow out, People from all over the village would hear it and come out to listen and watch us perform. At our peek, there were more than 400 people in the crowd which formed in a matter of minutes. Realistically, we only expected about 150 – 200 people to come and watch the performance. We were truly humbled to see so many people come, undulating with laughter and excitement. We continued on under the mid-day sun, singing and playing our instruments for hours to come until our throats became dry, fingers numb and our bodies exhausted.
