Personal Narrative: My Role In A Medication Error

I was called into the nursing directors office to discuss my role in a medication error that another nurse had made. The director required that I sit during the conversation and she stood in front of me. Than she opened the conversation with “Are you stupid?”. I did not know at that time what the conversation was about so I did not reply, and waited for more information. She relayed her issues with the report I had given to the oncoming nurse. There was no request for resolution or a plan for change in procedure, only yelling. By the time I left the meeting I was in tears. Her body posture and attacks on my intelligence made it impossible for there to be any sort of alignment of ideas. I just wanted to agree with her and get away. I felt
